11 min readUpdated 2026-08-22

League City last published a police entry cell on the LCPD 2026 Pay Scale, linked as Pay Scale (PDF) from Salary & Benefits. Police Officer Cadet Probationary-Non-Certified PN1 Entry is $32.77 an hour / $68,154.47 a year. The cadet cell on this page is $68,154.47. TCOLE Certified Civil Service Police Officer Probationary-Certified PC1 Entry is $38.41 / $79,884.70. Police Officer P1 at 1 year is $39.58 / $82,331.73. The 2025 Pay Scale DocumentCenter/View/46113 prints Non Cert Entry $54,259.97. The League City Fire Department listing is volunteer and stipend fire that lists $62,000. league-pd is League, Texas, not this city. Those figures are not averaged with the dated cell.

League City Fire, league-pd (League, Texas), Detention Officer, Telecommunications Officer, Animal Protection Officer, Volunteer Firefighter, and EMS Deputy Chief hire on separate schedules. This page covers League City PD.

The license is TCOLE's. The job is League City PD's. Those are two gates. The Texas sequence is in How to Become a Police Officer in Texas. The license rules are in TCOLE peace officer license requirements. This page is drawn from LCPD Jobs, Qualifications, Hiring Process & Registration, Physical Assessment Test, Salary & Benefits, PDF 50866, Nelson Denny study guide PDF 39064, Other LCPD Jobs, GovernmentJobs, TCOLE Statewide Vacancies, and the department listing.

Department listing: League City Police Department. Pay comparison: Texas police salary by department. That salary page still keeps League City out of the N=12 table because that collection is DFW municipal departments plus Texas DPS. City hiring guides in this series: Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Frisco, McKinney, Mesquite, Grand Prairie, Denton. What League City PD actually is

Hiring Process: non-certified applicants are sent to a local Police Academy. The academy will be chosen and paid for by the department. Cadets are paid the PN1 pay rate while they attend. After graduation, cadets enter the Field Training Program. Certified applicants enter the Field Training Program. BPOC week count is unpublished as a hiring-page figure. FTO week count is unpublished.

The live apply door

There is no live Police Officer or Cadet card on the city jobs board this retrieval. The six cards are Animal Protection Officer, Bartender (Ballpark), Deputy Chief Operations EMS, Front Gate Attendant, HVAC Specialist, and Volunteer Firefighter. EMS Deputy Chief and Volunteer Firefighter are fire and EMS. Animal Protection is Animal Control. Those are not the patrol door.

Hiring Process & Registration is the officer process. LCPD Jobs still says the next Officer Entrance Exam is August 22, 2026 and registration is closed. Those two titles are not on the live 6-job board. They are older page copy, not an open patrol window.

The Ready to Serve listing for League City PD returns 404. That 404 matches today's empty officer board; it is not a live officer door. league-pd is League, Texas.

Watch LCPD Jobs for the next dated exam. Email Recruiter@leaguecitytx.gov. TCOLE Statewide Vacancies did not reprint League City PD this retrieval.

Hiring Process still links Eligibility Requirements. That URL returned 404 this retrieval. The live list is Qualifications. The /627 page is not the live qualifications list.

Minimum requirements

Qualifications is the live list:

  • At least 21 years of age at the time of the examination.
  • United States citizen at the time of appointment.
  • Valid Texas driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Graduate of an accredited high school or equivalency certificate, and one of: transcripts showing a minimum of 30 hours at an accredited institution of higher education with at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; or 15 hours at 2.0 plus a Basic Peace Officer Certification from TCOLE; or an Intermediate Peace Officer Certification or above from TCOLE; or an honorable discharge from the armed forces of the United States showing at least 24 months of active duty status (DD-214 with the application); or a minimum of 36 months of full-time employment within the 48 months immediately preceding the date of application, averaging at least 32 hours per week.
  • Official sealed transcripts or other competent evidence of the academic requirements.
  • If prior military service, honorable discharge. Dishonorable, Bad Conduct, or Other than Honorable, and UCMJ convictions, are cause for disqualification. Member 4 DD-214 at the testing site for veterans bonus points. No photocopies onsite. Electronic submissions are not accepted.
  • Vision not over 20/200 uncorrected in either eye, correctable to 20/30. Normal color vision without corrective lenses. Normal hearing without mechanical devices.
  • No more than two moving traffic violation convictions in the 12 months preceding the written test.

Qualifications Criminal Convictions reprint:

  • Never been, nor currently, on court-ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor, or a Class B misdemeanor within the last 10 years.
  • Not currently under indictment for any criminal offense.
  • Never been convicted of an offense above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor, or a Class B misdemeanor within the last 10 years.
  • Never been convicted of any family violence offense.
  • Not prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle.
  • Not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.

A former or current TCOLE licensee is rejected if the license was denied by final order, revoked, currently on suspension for a criminal violation, or voluntarily surrendered for a criminal violation, or if the candidate would be ineligible for licensing under current TCOLE minimum eligibility standards.

TCOLE's own floor is 21, or 18 with an associate's degree, 60 semester hours, or an honorable discharge after two years of active service (37 TAC 217.1(b)(1)(A)). Qualifications' measuring point, 21 at the time of the examination, is not the same as TCOLE's 18-with-waiver floor. Read TCOLE peace officer license requirements. Recruits reach the Texas Basic Peace Officer exam after the academy, not at apply. TCOLE Basic is not required at apply. Certified applicants already hold TCOLE and enter Field Training.

United States citizen at the time of appointment is League City PD's hiring line. TCOLE's matching rule is 37 TAC 217.1(b)(17): U.S. citizen, or a legal permanent resident who is an honorably discharged veteran with two years of service and has applied for citizenship.

A valid Texas driver's license at the time of appointment is League City PD's hiring rule, not a TCOLE minimum. TCOLE's floor, which Qualifications reprints under Criminal Convictions, is that you are not prohibited from operating a motor vehicle (37 TAC 217.1(b)(8)).

Qualifications reprints a Class A / Class B table. Above Class B is a lifetime bar on conviction and on court-ordered community supervision. Only Class B carries the ten-year lookback. That matches TCOLE 37 TAC 217.1(b)(4) and (b)(6): a Class A conviction is a lifetime bar. Qualifications family-violence line is conviction only. TCOLE also bars family violence on community supervision (217.1(b)(7)). Those two family-violence lines are not collapsed. The TCOLE floor is the license gate even if the city page names conviction only.

Process after eligibility, Hiring Process: written Police Officer Entrance Exam (Nelson Denny Study Guide PDF), Physical Assessment Test, Personal History Statement, Oral Review Board, background investigation, polygraph, psychological test and evaluation, medical exam and drug test, official offer. Then academy for the uncertified door, or Field Training for the certified door.

The test, PAT as printed

Written exam first. Qualifications: applicants must pass all phases of the written test with a minimum score of 70%. The same Qualifications page then names the Nelson-Denny civil service exam. The department's Nelson Denny Study Guide PDF prints a passing score of 102 required to proceed in the hiring process. Those two cutoffs are not averaged.

The physical assessment is five events. Physical Assessment Test says it is administered promptly after the written exam is completed:

  • 25 push-ups (using proper form)
  • Vertical jump (at least 15.5 inches in height)
  • Agility run (in 17.8 seconds or less)
  • 300-meter run (in 71 seconds or less)
  • 1.5-mile run (in 15:54 minutes or less)

Agility run, as printed: the course is 30 feet across with 4 cones placed 10 feet apart in a straight line. Start from a flat or modified position with hands just behind the start line. Sprint to the baseline and back, then zig-zag the cones. Course must be completed in 17.8 seconds or less. Not a 2000-meter row. Not CPAT. Not League City Fire agility.

Academy length

Academy week count is unpublished as a hiring-page figure. Hiring Process: non-certified applicants are sent to a local Police Academy chosen and paid for by the department. Cadets are paid the PN1 pay rate while they attend. After graduation, cadets enter the Field Training Program. Certified applicants enter the Field Training Program.

See What to expect at a Texas police academy.

Laterals

Hiring Process does not print a year-of-experience lateral table. Certified applicants enter the Field Training Program. The dated certified probationary cell on the 2026 scale is PC1 $38.41 / $79,884.70. Hiring Process prints no 2-year / 3-year / 4-year steps.

Out-of-state peace officers still have to satisfy TCOLE before they are certified in Texas. See the TCOLE out-of-state licensure packet.

No sign-on bonus is printed on LCPD Jobs, Hiring Process, or Salary & Benefits this retrieval.

TCOLE Statewide Vacancies did not reprint League City PD.
