Pearland last published a police entry cell on the April 2026 Police Officer Pay Plan and the officer compensation PDF. Police Officer Grade PO Step 0 is $37.07 an hour / $77,112.00 a year. The officer cell on this page is $77,112. ApplicantPro 4026844 prints Police Officer $36.35 hourly for TCOLE certified. That posting is closed (May 16, 2026 certified-only exam). ApplicantPro 3310504 prints Cadet $21.61 and Police Officer $31.81 from a June 1, 2024 exam. Cadet compensation PDF 35072 prints PD-Police Cadet NE19 min $56,263.09 / mid $65,992.90 / max $75,722.72. Pearland Fire, Animal Control, and Telecommunications Operator hire on separate schedules. This page covers Pearland PD.
The license is TCOLE's. The job is Pearland PD's. Those are two gates. The Texas sequence is in How to Become a Police Officer in Texas. The license rules are in TCOLE peace officer license requirements. This page is drawn from Career Opportunities (re-read 2026-09-03), the April 2026 plan, officer compensation PDF 36501, Cadet PDF 35072, Eligibility Requirements, Selection Process, Physical Agility Test, live ApplicantPro 4191422 (re-read 2026-09-03), prior ApplicantPro 4026844, prior ApplicantPro 3310504, the jobs board (re-read 2026-09-03), and the department listing.
Department listing: Pearland Police Department. Pay comparison: Texas police salary by department. That salary page still keeps Pearland out of the N=12 table because that collection is DFW municipal departments plus Texas DPS. What Pearland PD actually is
Recruiting lives under Career Opportunities. Eligibility Requirements names pdrecruit@pearlandtx.gov. Contact a Recruiter is a form. It did not print a named officer this retrieval. Closed cards name Human Resources at 281-652-1763 and hr@pearlandtx.gov.
Career Opportunities prints 185 sworn police positions. That is recruiting copy, not a roster. Filled sworn count, station count, call volume, and founding year are unpublished on the officer sources (0).
The live exam site on ApplicantPro 4191422 is Pearland ISD Administrative Office, 1928 N. Main Street, Pearland, Texas 77581. The academy building on closed ApplicantPro 4026844 is Pearland Police Academy Building, 8333 Freedom Drive, Pearland, Texas 77584. Those two addresses are both published. They are not the same site. Act on 1928 N. Main for October 10, 2026. BPOC week count is unpublished as a hiring-page figure.

Career Opportunities now prints Next New Hire Test Date - October 10th, 2026. Registration for Next Test points at ApplicantPro 4191422, Date: October 10th, 2026.
Selection Process still lists Cadet and Probationary Police Officer as the two labels on the same process. Register an Intent to Test is the first shared step after eligibility. Prior ApplicantPro 4026844 is closed. It is dated news for a TCOLE-certified-only exam on Saturday, May 16, 2026, applications through May 13, 2026. ApplicantPro 3310504 is closed (June 1, 2024 cadet/officer card). Selection Process still links 3310504. Those closed postings are not the October 10, 2026 door.
TCOLE Statewide Vacancies did not reprint Pearland PD on 2026-08-22. Email pdrecruit@pearlandtx.gov. Human Resources on 4191422: 281-652-1763 or hr@pearlandtx.gov.
Minimum requirements
Eligibility Requirements is the live list:
- United States citizen. Able to read, write, and speak the English language.
- At least 21 years of age at the time of the examination.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate (G.E.D.) certified by the issuing agency, and one of: 30 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale from an accredited institute of higher learning; or minimum 24 months of active duty service with an honorable discharge authenticated by a Member 2 or Member 4 Form DD-214; or 15 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale in addition to Basic Peace Officer Certification from TCOLE; or an Intermediate Peace Officer Certification from TCOLE.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Veterans: honorable discharge, free from any conditions. Medical discharge or disability compensation needs the military records plus a recent medical evaluation of that condition, sent to Recruiting.
Live ApplicantPro 4191422 says be at least 18 years of age at the time of the examination. Live Eligibility says at least 21 years of age at the time of the examination. Closed ApplicantPro 3310504 also said 18 at examination. The open posting and Eligibility disagree. Both lines are published. Confirm which measuring point the Civil Service Commission will use before you travel.
TCOLE's own floor is 21, or 18 with an associate's degree, 60 semester hours, or an honorable discharge after two years of active service (37 TAC 217.1(b)(1)(A)). Eligibility's measuring point, 21 at the time of the examination, is not the same as TCOLE's 18-with-waiver floor. Read TCOLE peace officer license requirements. Recruits reach the Texas Basic Peace Officer exam after the academy, not at apply. ApplicantPro 4026844 required a TCOLE license on that closed certified-only card. Live Selection Process still enrolls uncertified applicants in a Basic Peace Officer class as Police Trainees (Step Nine). TCOLE Basic is not required at apply. Lateral and the closed 4026844 card already hold TCOLE.
Must be a United States citizen is Pearland PD's hiring line. TCOLE's matching rule is 37 TAC 217.1(b)(17): U.S. citizen, or a legal permanent resident who is an honorably discharged veteran with two years of service and has applied for citizenship.
A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is Pearland PD's hiring rule, not a TCOLE minimum. TCOLE's floor is that you are not prohibited from operating a motor vehicle (37 TAC 217.1(b)(8)).
Eligibility does not reprint a Class A / Class B table this retrieval. Career Opportunities names a Common Police Employment Disqualifiers PDF; that file was not extracted as a Class A table this retrieval. TCOLE makes a Class A conviction a lifetime bar and puts the ten-year lookback on Class B only (37 TAC 217.1(b)(4), (b)(6)). Family violence bars on community supervision as well as conviction (217.1(b)(7)). That TCOLE floor is the license gate even if the city pages name no Class A line.
Process after register, Selection Process: civil service written exam, Physical Agility Test the same day, Personal History Statement, background, polygraph, interview panel, psychological examination, medical physical and drug screen, then academy for the uncertified door, then hire / Field Training / one-year probation.
Veterans: live 4191422 prints that in accordance with Texas Local Government Code Section 143.024(f), an additional five points shall be added to the examination grade of an applicant who served in the United States armed forces, received an honorable discharge, and made a passing grade of seventy (70) on the examination. Send a DD214 Member-2 or Member-4 copy to hr@pearlandtx.gov on or before 5:00 p.m. on October 6, 2026. The posting says paper copies will not be accepted on the date of the test, and military points will not be added after the publication of the eligibility list. Live Eligibility does not reprint the five-point sentence. The open posting has it; Eligibility does not. Both documents are published.
The test, PAT as printed
Written exam first. Selection Process: Civil Service protects Pearland Police Officers; each registered applicant must pass a written test determined by the Civil Service Commission. Minimum score 70. NPST Candidate Orientation Guide is linked from Career Opportunities.
The physical assessment is six events. Physical Agility Test and Selection Process print the same list:
- Six-foot wall: cross a 6-foot privacy-fence simulation. Qualifying time 20 seconds.
- Obstacle course: 800-foot course, 5'3" running jump, two 3'6" barricades. Maximum 60 seconds.
- Body transport: life-size dummy of approximately 170 pounds, 75 feet. Maximum 30 seconds.
- Vehicle push: mid-sized motor vehicle 30 feet. Maximum 20 seconds.
- Stairway run: ascent and descend a flight of stairs (about 20 steps) three times. Maximum 30 seconds.
- Quarter mile run including turns. Maximum two minutes.
All events are pass/fail. Selection Process: up to three opportunities total to pass the series. PAT page: minimum two-minute rest between events. Not a 2000-meter row. Not CPAT. Not Pearland Fire agility.
Academy length
Academy week count is unpublished as a hiring-page figure. Selection Process Step Nine: uncertified applicants enroll in a Basic Peace Officer Certification Class as a Police Trainee, then must pass the state licensing examination. Step Ten: Field Training Program will generally last 18-20 weeks, depending on experience, then a one-year probationary period without Civil Service protection.
See What to expect at a Texas police academy.
