The live apply door

There is no live Police Officer or Cadet card on the city jobs board this retrieval. Jailer and Telecommunications Officer are open until filled. Those are not the patrol door. Hiring Process still lists two doors, Cadet Program and TCOLE Licensed, and both still sit a written Police Officer Entrance Exam and a Physical Agility Test. Register for testing is the first shared step after eligibility. CivicAlerts 684, posted August 7, 2026, still says the next entrance exam is Saturday, Aug. 15 at the Texas City Police Department, doors 8:00 a.m., testing 8:30 a.m., accepting TCOLE licensed officers, future cadets, and laterals. The Recruitment image alt repeats August 15 2026. Today is August 22, 2026. That exam is older dated news. Older calendar cards: February 7, March 21, and May 16, 2026 (May 16, EID=2590, doors 8:00 a.m., close 8:30 a.m.). Those dates are older dated news, not an open 2026 window. City calendar extracts for August, September, and October 2026 did not print a future Police Officer Entrance Exam. The live department card is Texas City Police Department. texas-pd is a different listing ("Texas Police Department," city Texas, Galveston County). Minimum requirements

Eligibility and Qualifications prints two lists. They are not the same sentence. TCOLE Licensed:

  • Age: at the time of appointment, at least 21. - United States citizen at appointment. - Valid Texas driver's license at appointment. - By the date of examination: accredited high school graduate or equivalency certificate, plus one of: 30 college hours at 2.0; 15 college hours at 2.0 plus TCOLE Basic; an undergraduate degree; TCOLE Intermediate or above; or 24 months honorable active duty with a DD-214. - Stable credit. Never convicted of, nor currently on court-ordered community supervision for, any offense above Class B; a Class B conviction or community supervision within the last 10 years is a bar. Never convicted of any family violence offense. Not prohibited from operating a motor vehicle or possessing a firearm. Cadet Program:

  • Age: at the time of appointment of TCOLE license, at least 21 and not yet 45. - United States citizen at appointment. - Valid Texas driver's license at appointment. - By the date of examination: accredited high school graduate or equivalency certificate, plus one of: 30 college hours at 2.0; an undergraduate degree; or 24 months honorable active duty with a DD-214. The 15-hour-plus-Basic rider and the Intermediate rider are not on this door. Licensed 21-at-appointment and cadet 21-and-not-yet-45 are not the same measuring point. High school or GED still needs one of the listed riders; that is not a plain-GED door. TCOLE's own floor is 21, or 18 with an associate's degree, 60 semester hours, or an honorable discharge after two years of active service (37 TAC 217.1(b)(1)(A)). Eligibility's licensed door, 21 at appointment, is not the same as TCOLE's 18-with-waiver floor. The cadet door adds a not-yet-45 cap at appointment of TCOLE license. Read TCOLE peace officer license requirements. Cadets reach the Texas Basic Peace Officer exam after the academy, not at apply. TCOLE Basic is not required at apply. Must be a citizen of the United States at appointment is Texas City PD's hiring line on both doors. TCOLE's matching rule is 37 TAC 217.1(b)(17): U.S. citizen, or a legal permanent resident who is an honorably discharged veteran with two years of service and has applied for citizenship. A valid Texas driver's license at appointment is Texas City PD's hiring rule, not a TCOLE minimum. Eligibility already reprints TCOLE's motor-vehicle floor: not prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle (37 TAC 217.1(b)(8)). Eligibility reprints TCOLE-shaped criminal history on both doors: never convicted of, nor currently on court-ordered community supervision for, any offense above Class B; a Class B conviction or community supervision within the last 10 years is a bar. That matches TCOLE's Class A lifetime bar and Class B ten-year lookback (37 TAC 217.1(b)(4), (b)(6)). Family violence on Eligibility is conviction-only. TCOLE also bars court-ordered community supervision for a family-violence offense (217.1(b)(7)). That TCOLE floor is the license gate even if the city pages name conviction only. Process after register, both doors on Hiring Process: written exam, Physical Agility Test, Personal History Statement packet (the page prints "tun in"), background investigation, oral review board, psychological test and evaluation (licensed door: "If needed. See requirements."), medical exam and drug test, official offer of employment. Veterans bonus points on the written exam require Member 4 DD-214 at the testing site. No photocopies made onsite. Electronic submissions not accepted.

The test, PAT as printed

Written exam first. The physical assessment is the same course on both doors. Eligibility: the course is approximately 800 feet in length consisting of these obstacles:

  • 1, 24-foot long by 6-inch-wide balance beam
  • 1, 6-foot long sand pit
  • 3, 6-foot long by 42-inch diameter concrete culverts
  • 1, 6-foot tall wooden wall
  • 1, 4-foot tall wooden wall
  • 1, 2-foot tall wooden wall
  • 1, 175 lb dummy drag

No single pass time is printed. Not a 2000-meter row. Not CPAT. Not Texas City Fire agility. Vision: not over 20/200 uncorrected in either eye, correctable to 20/30; normal color vision without corrective lenses. Hearing: normal without mechanical devices.

Laterals

CivicAlerts 684 says the August 15 exam accepted laterals. That date is older dated news. Salary and Benefits prints two lateral cells and a footnote:

  • Patrol 3 Years / Lateral Entry over 3 years, less than 5 years experience: $35.53 / $73,881.17
  • Patrol Lateral Entry 5+ Years: $36.19 / $75,260.72
  • Footnote, TCMPA Collective Bargaining Agreement Article XXXI, Miscellaneous, Section 5.C: after successful completion of the probationary period, the employee is elevated to a four-year employee assigned to patrol at the regular hourly rate. Pay only. Seniority is not altered. Those three lines are not averaged. There is no separate laterals page. TCOLE Statewide Vacancies did not reprint Texas City PD.
