Lewisville Police Hiring 2026: Window Closed
The window is closed. NEOGOV Police Officer FY2526-00073 printed Closing Date 9/2/2026 5:30 PM Central. That clock has passed. Do not apply on that card.
The live City of Lewisville careers board on 2026-09-03 prints 0 jobs found and No jobs at this time. The same page banners All current job postings will close on September 2, 2026 and Our new career site will be available on October 1, 2026, with a new website address and a new account. A link is promised on cityoflewisville.com when that site launches. If you applied before September 2, the city says that application continues.
The FY2526-00073 card is still reachable and still says "We are currently accepting applications." The city's own index has emptied it. Do not treat that card as a live door.
Police Officer (8101) Step 1 on the City of Lewisville FY 2025-2026 Sworn Police Pay Plan (effective October 1, 2025) is $86,268. That figure did not close with the window.
Department listing: Lewisville Police Department. Recruiting landing: Join the LPD Team. Texas sequence: How to Become a Police Officer in Texas. License rules: TCOLE peace officer license requirements. Nearby: Dallas, Denton, Flower Mound, Grand Prairie.
What was the apply door?
The closed posting was NEOGOV Police Officer FY2526-00073, Opening Date 02/12/2026, Closing Date 9/2/2026 5:30 PM Central. It was open to entry-level recruits and licensed officers on the same card.
That card still lists a written exam and row test sitting Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. That sitting is after the printed close, and the live board has no jobs. Do not register for it unless the city reprints a new bulletin on the October 1 career site.
TCOLE Statewide Vacancies did not reprint a Lewisville Police string on the 2026-08-22 retrieval. The police-recruit landing is not an apply door.
What Lewisville PD actually is
Recruiting lives under Join the LPD Team. The department hub is Police Department. Headquarters on the closed posting: 151 W. Church Street, Lewisville, Texas 75057. City phone on that card: 469-635-5252. Recruiter on class spec 1302086: Officer Ryan Maly, 972-219-3616. The lateral Drive PDF prints Inv. Maly at the same number. Questions also go to lpdrecruiting@cityoflewisville.com.
Join the LPD Team prints authorized 186 police and 80 professional staff. That is authorized strength, not a filled sworn count. Filled sworn, stations, calls, and year established are unpublished on the opened pages.
Class spec 1302086: The City of Lewisville does not fall under State Civil Service Law.
Lewisville Fire hires on a separate schedule. Detention Officer cards, when they appear, are jail custody, not this officer door.
Minimum requirements
NEOGOV 5236259 (closed posting) and class spec 1302086:
- U.S. Citizen.
- At least 21 years of age at the time of the written entrance examination.
- High School Diploma or GED required (class spec). The posting qualifications body does not reprint that sentence. Supplemental question 1 asks whether you have a high school diploma or GED.
- Licenses and Certifications on the posting: None. Cadet door is none at apply. If applying as a lateral-transfer candidate, possess a basic certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Valid State of Texas Driver's License Class C and a good driving record as defined by City policy.
- Not be on probation for a criminal offense. Be fingerprinted. Vision correctable to 20/20 binocular.
- Pass a background investigation, polygraph, physical, and psychological.
TCOLE's own floor is 21, or 18 with an associate's degree, 60 semester hours, or an honorable discharge after two years of active service (37 TAC 217.1(b)(1)(A)). Lewisville's 21-at-written-exam hiring line is not TCOLE's 18-with-waiver floor. Read TCOLE peace officer license requirements.
U.S. Citizen is Lewisville PD's hiring line. TCOLE's matching rule is 37 TAC 217.1(b)(17): U.S. citizen, or a legal permanent resident who is an honorably discharged veteran with two years of service and has applied for citizenship. Those two lines disagree.
A Texas Class C license is Lewisville's hiring card. TCOLE does not require a Texas license. TCOLE's floor is not prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, 37 TAC 217.1(b)(8).
Background standards, Revised September, 2025: convicted of or pled guilty to a felony or a Class A misdemeanor is a permanent rejection. Class B conviction or plea within 10 years of final disposition is a temporary rejection. Class B probation/community supervision within the preceding 10 years is a temporary rejection. That city Class A line does not print community supervision. TCOLE's Class A bar is conviction or court-ordered community supervision, lifetime (37 TAC 217.1(b)(4), (b)(6)). Only Class B carries the ten-year lookback. The two Class A lines disagree.
Family violence: supplemental question 3 asks whether you have ever been convicted in any court of law for an offense involving family violence as defined under Chapter 71, Texas Family Code. The background PDF does not print a Chapter 71 bar. TCOLE bars conviction or community supervision for family violence, 217.1(b)(7). The application question and the TCOLE floor are both published.
The test, as printed on the closed posting
The closed posting: testing on a continuous basis. After you apply, a recruiter reviews qualifications and contacts you to schedule the written exam and the row test on the same day.
The posting links a 2000-meter row calculator on DPS Training Operations, a 500-meter sheet, and a 4-minute row sheet. Not CPAT. Not Lewisville Fire's PAT.
Selection as printed: online application; schedule written exam and row test; Personal History Statement brought to that sitting; polygraph statement; background; polygraph; Chief's interview; physical; psychological.
Academy length
Named academy and hour count unpublished. The lateral PDF says if you do not have a Texas Peace Officer Certification you start as a police recruit, then graduate from a law enforcement academy and obtain the Texas Peace Officer Certification. Class spec 1302086 names Police Academy and Field Training Program without a school or an hour count. FTO week count unpublished.
See What to expect at a Texas police academy.

Must have had authority to enforce laws, investigate crimes, make arrests, respond to calls for service, carry a firearm, and use discretion.
