How to Get a 300 on the Marine Corps CFT (2026)
A 300 on the Combat Fitness Test is 100 points on each of the three events. The official tables score each event from 40 to 100. The raw time or rep count that equals 100 is different on every age and sex row. Look up your row. Do not train one magic line.
The events, in recruiting language: an 880-yard sprint, repeatedly lifting a 30-pound ammo can overhead, and a 300-yard course of crawls, agility runs, casualty drags, fireman carries, and grenade throws, in the combat utility uniform (Marine Corps recruiting, enlistment requirements, retrieved 2026-08-23). The fitness tables name those events movement to contact (MTC), ammunition lift (AL / ACL), and maneuver under fire (MANUF).
This is not the PFT. It is not the IST. A 300 here does not give you a 300 there.
If the sheet in your unit disagrees with this page, the order in your unit is the score sheet.

What a 100 looks like on the official tables
Copied from the CFT scoring PDFs still linked from the PFT/CFT standards page (Wayback 6 August 2026; the live fitness.marines.mil page returned HTTP 403 when retrieved). Table 3-3 MTC, Table 3-4 AL, Table 3-5 MANUF. Retrieved 2026-08-23. Confirm against the order your unit is using.
| Age | Male MTC | Male AL | Male MANUF | Female MTC | Female AL | Female MANUF |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 17-20 | 2:40 | 106 | 2:07 | 3:19 | 66 | 2:55 |
| 21-25 | 2:38 | 115 | 2:04 | 3:13 | 74 | 2:45 |
| 26-30 | 2:39 | 116 | 2:05 | 3:10 | 75 | 2:42 |
| 31-35 | 2:42 | 120 | 2:10 | 3:12 | 72 | 2:49 |
| 36-40 | 2:45 | 110 | 2:16 | 3:18 | 70 | 2:53 |
| 41-45 | 2:52 | 106 | 2:23 | 3:25 | 62 | 2:57 |
| 46-50 | 3:01 | 100 | 2:40 | 3:39 | 53 | 3:35 |
| 51+ | 3:05 | 95 | 2:52 | 3:55 | 44 | 3:44 |
Those are the Max (100-point) rows. A scored event that still passes is worth at least 40 points on the same tables. Passing is not 300.
MTC and MANUF have altitude tables (Table 3-6 and Table 3-7) on the same fitness page. There is no altitude file for the ammo can on that page.
Why people miss 300
They train the 880 in shorts, then run it in boots and utilities. They press the can at an angle. They treat the 300-yard course as a fun obstacle day. They split the three events across a week.
A 300 is one session, in the uniform you will wear. The Fit to Serve, Part II week is the base. Bias it like this:
- Work day. Overhead lockouts with a 30-pound can or a sandbag of the same weight. Farmer's walks. A partner or dummy drag and a fireman carry. High crawl.
- Engine day. Easy running you can talk through, in the shoes or boots you will test in. Once a week, run a full 880 yards at goal-max pace for your row.
- One combined day. Movement to contact, then the two-minute-shaped lift, then the 300-yard course. Practice the test.
The official fitness page still hosted a CFT preparation packet on the 6 August 2026 archive. TECOM's video on how to execute the events is live. Use those for the course.
IST, PFT, and CFT are three different tests
The Initial Strength Test that lets a poolee ship to recruit training is pull-ups or push-ups, a plank, and a 1.5-mile run. Marines.com lists: male 3 pull-ups or 34 push-ups in 2:00, 1.5 miles in 13:30, 40-second plank; female 1 pull-up or 15 push-ups in 2:00, 1.5 miles in 15:00, 40-second plank. Clearing the IST is not a 300 CFT.
The Physical Fitness Test is a different annual test: pull-ups or push-ups, a plank, and a three-mile run (same recruiting page). This page does not reprint PFT tables and does not link a 404 PFT slug.
The Combat Fitness Test is this page: 880-yard movement to contact, 30-pound ammo-can lift, 300-yard maneuver under fire, in utilities.
Military to fire: military to firefighter transition. Preference points: veterans preference. Door: /pathways/military and Marines pathway.
