Longview Firefighter Hiring 2026: Sep 7 Review Period Closed

Longview publishes three different closing times for the same day, September 7, 2026. The city's job posting says 8:00 PM. Public Safety Answers' Longview page says 11:59 pm CST. The Public Safety Answers assessment page itself (app.psahire.com/job/NDqAS6SKDo) says 11:59 AM CT. These are the department's own published times and they did not agree. All three named the same day, so nothing turned on which one governed once that day passed. On a 2026-09-15 read the assessment page prints Closed. When the next review period posts, expect the same three-clock split and finish both steps by the earliest time printed. Verified 2026-09-15.

The process is a mandatory two-step: (1) apply with City of Longview Human Resources and upload the required documents, (2) complete testing and a video interview with Public Safety Answers. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Department physical ability test September 21-22, 2026, at the Training Drill Field, 2212 South Eastman Road, Longview, TX 75602, for applicants already in the August to September cycle. When does the Longview firefighter application close?

The city disagreed with itself on the close clock and on when backgrounds start. Three published close times, not two. The timeline starts backgrounds September 4, which is before the application close on September 7, while Public Safety Answers prints September 24. When the next review period posts, act on the earliest close time printed. A NEOGOV image alt still says PSA due April 6, 2026. That alt is not the body-text date. The body text is September 7. Do not treat April 6 as the deadline.

The Hiring Timeline (updated August 10, 2026) also says the department is always accepting applications and holds recurring review periods, and that dates and times are subject to change.

What is the two-step process?

Careers, the NEOGOV card, and Public Safety Answers all mark two steps. Both doors for the August to September cycle are shut. The city has not posted the card the next review period will use, so treat the steps below as the shape of the process, not as links to follow today:

1. Apply through the City of Longview Human Resources Department on whichever NEOGOV card the city posts for the next review period. Upload copies of all Fire/Paramedic certifications plus the notarized Waiver and Authorization to Release Information and the ApplicantRecruit Internet Access Consent Form.
2. Complete testing and a video interview through Public Safety Answers. That step is hosted per cycle: the August to September cycle used job NDqAS6SKDo, which now prints Closed, so expect a new one when the next period posts.

What are the hiring doors?

The August to September cycle's card said the applicant must have certification(s) that fall into one of the following 3 categories at the time of application, then listed two numbered items. Careers splits the work into two tracks. The class-spec block at the bottom is stricter. All three versions are published. The 3-categories header does not match the numbered list. The numbered list has two items. This is not a single TCFP plus EMT floor.

Application doors are the hire floor. Class-spec is the fully certified firefighter/paramedic job. Do not require every applicant to hold TCFP plus paramedic plus ACLS on day one.

What do I need before I apply?

Age. Careers both doors and PSA: at least 18 years of age at time of hire. Timeline: 18 years old. NEOGOV: 18 years of age by the end of the application period, and question 02: 18 years of age at time of hire. Both the hire-date and the end-of-application-period lines are published. No 35 or 36 language on these fire pages this cycle.

Education. High school diploma or G.E.D. on the Careers doors.

Driver's license. The city disagrees with itself. Careers: government issued driver license. NEOGOV class spec: valid Texas Drivers License Class B. PSA: Valid Driver's license. Print all three. This guide does not invent a conversion deadline.

NEOGOV job 5442613 prints Salary $69,341.74 Annually in the header. That is a posting-field conflict, not a third wage. $3000 sign on bonus for Firefighter/Paramedic and Paramedic Only is a bonus, not starting pay.

Shift duty schedule: 48 on, 96 off. NEOGOV: "We are operating on a 48/96 shift schedule."

Once FTO process is completed: $200 per month paramedic pay, $50 per shift ambulance ride pay.

Does Longview use CPAT?

No. The physical is a department Physical Ability Test. For the closed August to September cycle it runs September 21-22, 2026, at the Training Drill Field.
