Longview publishes three different closing times for the same day, September 7, 2026. The city's job posting says 8:00 PM. Public Safety Answers' Longview page says 11:59 pm CST. The Public Safety Answers assessment page itself (app.psahire.com/job/NDqAS6SKDo) says 11:59 AM CT. These are the department's own published times and they do not agree. Finish both steps before 11:59 AM CT on Monday, September 7, 2026. That is the earliest of the three, and the only time that satisfies all of them. Verified 2026-08-29.

The process is a mandatory two-step: (1) apply with City of Longview Human Resources and upload the required documents, (2) complete testing and a video interview with Public Safety Answers. When does the Longview firefighter application close?

The city disagrees with itself on the close clock and on when backgrounds start. Three live close times, not two. They do not agree. Act on the earliest. The timeline starts backgrounds September 4, which is before the application close on September 7. A NEOGOV image alt still says PSA due April 6, 2026. That alt is not the body-text date. The body text is September 7. Do not treat April 6 as the deadline.

The Hiring Timeline (updated August 10, 2026) also says the department is always accepting applications and holds recurring review periods, and that dates and times are subject to change.

The live card says the applicant must have certification(s) that fall into one of the following 3 categories at the time of application, then lists two numbered items. The numbered list has two items. This is not a single TCFP plus EMT floor.

Application doors are the hire floor. Class-spec is the fully certified firefighter/paramedic job. Do not require every applicant to hold TCFP plus paramedic plus ACLS on day one.

What do I need before I apply?

Age. Careers both doors and PSA: at least 18 years of age at time of hire. Timeline: 18 years old. NEOGOV: 18 years of age by the end of the application period, and question 02: 18 years of age at time of hire. Both the hire-date and the end-of-application-period lines are published. No 35 or 36 language on these fire pages this cycle.

Education. High school diploma or G.E.D. on the Careers doors.
