Killeen Firefighter Hiring 2026: Apply by Sep 21

The Probationary Fire and Rescue Officer Certified Scores PDF is still linked. That list is the November 16, 2025 exam, certified November 20, 2025, 189 names. It is the last cycle. The October 11, 2026 exam creates a new list, valid one year or until exhausted. Do not treat the 2025 PDF as this cycle's hiring list.

What You Need Before You Apply

The employment page. Uncertified door, then clocks after hire.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 18 and not older than 36 by the date of hire.
• Valid Texas driver's license with no suspension or revocation in any state, by date of hire.
• Obtain fire certification within the 1st year of employment.
• Obtain paramedic certification within 3 years of employment.

The live UKG card disagrees with itself on cards at hire. Required Minimum Qualifications still include TCFP Basic Firefighter. The same card then says certifications are not required and preference may be given to TCFP, DSHS EMT, or paramedic. Special requirements on that card: EMT within four months of becoming a Fire Rescue Officer; enroll in the paramedic program within 2 years of hire; paramedic certification within 90 days of finishing those classes. Both lines are live. Confirm the employment page and the live UKG card before you apply.

Does Killeen Use CPAT?

No. The physical is the department Hiring Physical Assessment Test (HPAT), not a CPAT card. Weighted vest 50 lb, helmet, gloves. Eight stations: hose drag, hose pull, ladder heel, forcible entry, equipment carry, stair climb, dummy drag 165 lb, breach and pull. Pass = 5 minutes 28 seconds or less, continuous. How Long Is the Academy?

Week count for the paid department academy is unpublished. After hire, fire certification is a one-year clock on the employment page. The public Fire Training Academy (TCFP Basic 16 weeks) is tuition, not a City of Killeen job.

Stations, headcount, and retirement

Nine fire stations in the 2025 annual report (Station 4 opened September 2025 is the ninth house). Directory numbered houses in service: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 plus Central/HQ at 201 S 28th St. Station 2 is not on the live directory. Do not count it.

What To Do This Cycle

Apply on UKG ShowJob 621251205 by September 21. Sit Sunday, October 11, 2026. Train the HPAT to 5:28, not a CPAT card. Hold age 18 through 36 by hire, HS/GED, and a clean Texas DL by hire. Attach the education document and DD-214 if you have one; those files are due 9:00 a.m. October 11. If you pass the written, the HPAT may run that Sunday and continue October 17. PHS is due November 10 at 11:59 p.m.
