Georgetown Firefighter Hiring 2026: Apply Oct 7
The board is open. Workday posting Firefighter/Paramedic 26-02760 went up 2026-09-02 (shown as Posted Yesterday on 2026-09-03). Apply on that posting. governmentjobs.com/careers/georgetowntx lists 0 jobs found / No jobs at this time. That NeoGov page is not the apply door.
Two clocks are published and they differ. The posting body: applications accepted online until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The Workday header: End Date: October 8, 2026. Act on October 7, 11:59 p.m. That is the only clock that satisfies both lines.
Written exam: Saturday, October 3, 2026 or Saturday, October 10, 2026, one date only. Public Safety Operations Training Center, 3500 DB Wood Rd, Georgetown, TX 78628. Check-in 8:30 a.m.; no entry after 9:00 a.m. Personal History Statement is due immediately after a passing written exam.
Georgetown Fire Department Careers still sends "View current City of Georgetown job vacancies" to Workday. Civil service FAQs still say: if they are not recruiting for Fire, do not submit an application. They are recruiting on this posting. Register for notices on Workday for the next cycle after this one.
Official hub: georgetowntexas.gov/public_safety/fire. Fire Chief John Sullivan. Admin / Public Safety Building 3500 D B Wood Rd, Georgetown, TX 78628. HR on civil service fire careers: 512-930-3637. GFD FAQ: 512-930-3639 or hr@georgetowntexas.gov. Department listing: Georgetown Fire Department. Texas order of operations: how to become a firefighter in Texas. What You Need Before You Apply
The posting names three doors, in preference order:
- TCFP Basic Firefighter plus a certified or licensed Paramedic through TDSHS or the National Registry, at the written exam.
- Licensed Paramedic through TDSHS or the National Registry and at least one year in a 911 system at the written exam.
- EMT-B through TDSHS, enrolled in a paramedic program with expected graduation no later than December 18, 2026, proven at the written exam.
Out-of-state: TCFP fire certification and TDSHS or National Registry paramedic before a conditional offer.
Civil service FAQs still say you must be certified as a basic firefighter, or certifiable at time of appointment, as established by TCFP and TDSHS, and that Georgetown does not have an onsite Academy. Those FAQ lines are live next to the posting's three doors. Read the posting for this cycle.
Age: eighteen (18) on the date of the written exam, and not 45 or older at hire. Civil service FAQs: max age for entry-level sworn Police and Fire is 44; eligible candidates cannot be 45 or older by hire date. High school diploma or GED. Legally eligible to work in the United States. Read, write, and speak English. Texas driver license within 60 days of hire unless the department head extends that.
They hire under Chapter 143. Military points: DD-214 member 4, honorable discharge, at least 180 days of active duty, brought to the written exam (5 points after a passing 70).
Civil service FAQs: Currently we do not have Lateral Entry for our Fire positions; civil service starts you at entry level. The posting prints lateral pay commensurate with experience, up to step two, for paramedics with at least two years paid full-time at a qualifying agency. Those two documents disagree. Read both before you count on a step.
Does Georgetown Use CPAT?
The requirements page names a physical ability test (PAT) and links a video demonstration of the PAT. The posting also names the PAT. One sentence on that same requirements page says candidates who pass the CPAT, written exam, background, and interview panel then meet the chief. Those two names are published and they differ. Train the department PAT. A CPAT card is not the Georgetown rule. Specs for the standard eight-event CPAT: CPAT vs firefighter physical ability tests.
How Long Is the Academy?
Unpublished as a week count. Civil service FAQs: Georgetown does not have an onsite Academy. You must be certified, or certifiable at appointment. GFD FAQs: academy students are full-time employees and receive pay with benefits. Those two FAQ lines are both live.
