Live Fire Department postings on the board are EMS hiring-incentive jobs (EMT Basic/Intermediate and Paramedic), not a firefighter or cadet exam. Next firefighter posting is unpublished. Applications are accepted only when a posting is live. Watch the agency board, not the closed 5149941 URL.

What You Need Before You Apply
Beaumont is three doors, not one TCFP-plus-EMT rule. From Employment (WordPress, last modified November 25, 2025):
- Have no certification and apply as a Cadet.
- Be certified as a firefighter under TCFP.
- Be certified as EMT-Basic under DSHS.
To sit the written exam, the same page requires certified or certifiable as a firefighter and certified or certifiable as EMT-Basic, U.S. citizen, high school diploma or equivalent, able to read and write English, and at least 18. Certifiable means you finished both academies and passed one or both state exams.
Age on that employment page: not past the 36th birthday by the date of hire. Closed posting 5149941 asked whether you will be 18-35 on exam day. The 2023 Fire Cadet Program page says 18 to sit the written exam and not 36 or older on the start date, and it also says cadets are already EMT certified (NREMT, then DSHS EMT / A / P by start) and go to LIT Fire Academy for fire only. The 2025 employment page is the current door set. Class B license within three months of hire.
The closed posting title was Fire Cadet (EMT Basic Firefighter Single Cert or No Cert Required). Preferred, not required, on that posting: DSHS EMT-Basic or above, TCFP Basic, college hours, Beaumont resident, honorable military discharge.
Eligible for promotional testing after two years.
Suppression schedule on Employment: 24 hours on, 48 hours off, with a Kelly day (paid day off every third week of the rotation). Cadets on the closed posting worked a 40-hour week during the academy.
HR contacts on the closed posting: Rachel Edwards 409-880-3114 / 409-554-5154, Abreya Banks 409-880-3727.
Does Beaumont Use CPAT?
No. After a complete Applicant Screening Packet you sit a job-related physical abilities test, not a CPAT card. Closed posting 5149941 and the 2023 cadet-program page print the same pass/fail events, no repeats:
- 1-minute sit-ups, minimum 26
- 300 m in 81 seconds
- 1-minute push-ups, minimum 20
- 1.5 mile in 16:39
- Aerial ladder 100 ft at 75 degrees
A CPAT card does not skip that test. Specs for the standard eight-event CPAT: CPAT vs firefighter physical ability tests.
How Long Is the Academy?
Unpublished as a week count. Cadets on the last posting signed a Fire Cadet Training Agreement and attended LIT Fire Academy, then the TCFP exam, then a one-year probationary period as TCFP Firefighter/EMT. That is the cadet door. Already-certified doors are not a required trip through LIT. Older copies of this page used 12 to 16 weeks; the city has not published that count.
Stations, headcount, and pension
Stations this retrieval: 14 facilities, 12 working fire stations, headquarters, and a maintenance shop. Houses 1-11 and 14. There is no Station 12 or 13. HQ 400 Walnut Street. Shop 1125 Archie Street. Stations 5 and 6 share 6375 Walden Road. Station 2 address on that roster is 4990 Helbig Road. Older copies of the department listing used 13 stations; the station roster is 12 working houses.
Older copies of the department listing used 245 sworn and 13 stations. TCFP appointed 245 (FDID 160) is a commission count, not a city roster. PRB 26 this retrieval: 231 active / 231 annuitant. Those three documents disagree. This page does not pick one headcount.
Calls: leave unpublished. Hub widgets on the WordPress home this retrieval did not print a live count. A 2021 About-Us total of 19,852 still circulates as "last year." It is not a current city figure.
Pension is the Beaumont Firemen's Relief and Retirement Fund, not TMRS. PRB 26 this retrieval: employee 18%, employer 20%, Social Security No, FYE December. New hires are Tier 2: hired on or after January 1, 2022, 55 and 20, 60 percent of final average salary plus a stated amount for each year over 20. Employment collapses the draw age to 55; that is the Tier 2 line, not Tier 1 50/20. Optional 457 / Roth via ICMA. ISO class unpublished this retrieval.
Union is IAFF Local 399, chartered November 29, 1934, from History. Established 1881: Beaumont Fire Company Number 1, December 19, 1881, 16 volunteers. First paid chief Ed Eastham 1899. Fully paid force by 1903. Current HQ built 1927. 1838 is the city founding year, not the department year.
Pay is omitted on this page.
What To Do While the Window Is Closed
Watch agency.governmentjobs.com/beaumont. Do not apply on closed 5149941. Hold or finish EMT-Basic and TCFP if you want the written-exam door; the cadet door on the last posting allowed no fire cert. Train the department agility (sit-ups, 300 m, push-ups, 1.5 mile, aerial), not a CPAT card. Confirm Employment and the NEOGOV header before you apply. Questions on the last posting went to Rachel Edwards or Abreya Banks. Ready to Serve is the candidate tracker for certifications, PAT fitness, and application materials.
