About This Resource
Blinn College co-runs the hybrid Fire Academy with TEEX, allowing working candidates to complete most of the academy classroom requirement online while keeping their day job. The structure: 12 weeks of online instruction covering NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I and II, Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations, followed by 4 weeks of intensive in-person hands-on training at the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station. Tuition is moderately priced compared to private academies. Graduates earn the same TCFP-approved Basic Structural Fire Suppression certificate and qualify for IFSAC seal exemptions on the state exam.
