About the Department

Dallas Fire-Rescue is the second-largest fire department in Texas, protecting 1.6 million residents across 385 square miles. The department operates 59 fire stations organized into 2 divisions and 10 battalions, with over 1,800 uniformed personnel. DFR manages Texas Task Force 2, one of only two urban search and rescue teams in the state. The department's four bureaus cover Emergency Response, EMS & Special Operations, Recruiting & Communications, Fire Prevention & Investigation, and Training & Administration.

Promotional & Incentive Pay

TCFP Intermediate: +$600/yr
TCFP Advanced: +$4,800/yr
TCFP Master: +$7,200/yr
EMS Pay: +$2,400-$3,000/yr
Health Benefit Supplement: $4/mo per year of service (max 25 years)

CertificationsValid Texas Paramedic License or equivalent + National Paramedic Registry Certification

Up to 18-month training program including basic fire suppression, EMT certification, and operational readiness.

State Certification

TCFP Basic Fire Suppression exam administered at end of academy with state firefighter examination.
